One of the best parts of Spring is all of the fun DIY projects we get to work on! Spring blooms really are the best inspiration, and we found a way to display them all season long. This pretty DIY floral garland is way more exciting than a vase of flowers, and will make a great wall hanging for any living or office space. Check out our simple and fun instructions below to recreate this pretty piece!
Although we start with fresh blooms, we can’t wait until our garland dries to achieve a rustic and romantic look. Here are a few recommended flowers to dry: yarrow, roses, lavender, bells of Ireland, and globe amaranth(if you’re going for a pop of color!).
Materials: Scissors, twine, large branch (not pictured), gold spray paint (not pictured), & flowers of your choice!
Step 1: Spray paint your branch two or three times, waiting about 20 minutes between each coat of paint. You can choose any color to complement the paint of the wall you’re planning to hang your garland on, but of course we had to choose gold!
Step 2: While you’re waiting for your last coat to dry, you can start prepping your flowers! Trim and cut your flowers to the desired length you want to achieve. You just need to make sure they’re long enough to tie a knot with your twine (about 6 inches is good!)
Step 3: Prep your twine. We cut 10 long strands of the same length, but you can do more or less depending on the size and strength of your branch. You can trim the pieces of twine to be different sizes once your flowers are arranged.
Step 4: Wrap the twine around each flower, starting from the bottom up. This is where you can get creative and arrange them to your liking. We preferred staggering the flowers rather than lining them up from left to right.
Step 5: Attach your arrangements to the branch, making sure the knots are secure. You can use the same twine to hang your garland, or use any transparent wire!
Step 6: Make sure you hang your garland in a dry space for about a week until your garland can hold up on its own!
