Welcome to the first installment of Women Who Inspire, our monthly blog post dedicated to hardworking women that live life daringly and to the absolute fullest. We are continuously in awe of the multi-taskers, the tastemakers, creators and mothers. We adore women that get their hands dirty yet still take the time to add sparkle into every day life. It just makes sense that this month we’ve chosen a woman who is not only a successful fashion and lifestyle blogger but a full-time hair/makeup artist and mother to two adorable (and stylish!) girls. We can’t imagine a more darling life than one filed with glitter, makeup and after-school ballet practice. Meet Kacee, the beauty, brains and mommy behind Life With Lipstick On.
2. What was your initial inspiration behind your blog?
I wanted a place to house everything that made me giddy. Life with Lipstick On is a fun home for all things fashion, travel, beauty and kiddos.
3. What can we find inside your studio?
You never know what you are going to find in the studio! Last week we were shooting a boudoir shoot and we had bras and panties everywhere! This week has been full of bride trial runs and meetings. It’s a happy little place that we designed to make everyone feel at home. It’s not too girly and not too modern. There is a little something for everyone.
4. What does a typical workday look like for you?
I consider every day a workday in some form. During the week, I keep busy with school drop off, bride trial runs, emails and blog shoots while my girls are at school. Then back to pick them up for the afternoon whirlwind of ballet, homework and family time. Weekends are always dedicated to weddings.
5. How do you balance blog time, mommy time, and a full-time business?
Balance, I feel like, is always the goal and never attainable. I work really hard at finding it for my family. I feel like mommies are the glue! We keep the train moving and with that we constantly spin too many plates all at once! I try and give myself a break when my full to do list doesn’t get done I prioritize and make obnoxious amounts of lists. During school days, I try and pack in as many things as I can so when the girls come home they have my full attention. After they go to bed, I cram in a bit more and then shut it down for some time with my hubby. My house may never be clean as I’d like but my goal is to make sure my family is number one.
6. How has having girls influenced your professional life? Your favorite thing about having girls?
Having daughters has really made me aware of my role in the beauty industry. I want them to see mommy making women feel beautiful but help them understand that beauty is within. I see so many women rip themselves apart with insecurities and it makes me very aware of helping shape my girls into confident women that see themselves as unique. My favorite thing about having girls is having two little buddies who are always up for dress up and glitter. We have so much fun shopping and doing all things girly!
7. We adore your sunny disposition and eye for all things feminine, how would you describe your personal style?
My personal style has always been very classic. I like tailored pieces and since I’ve cut my hair I’ve found i gravitate to stronger, structured looks. I love a good stripe and never turn down a sequin.
8. What does your go-to outfit look like?
My go to outfit would be a structured sundress. I gobble up J. Crew dresses like crazy. I find them perfect for my wedding work days but also great for during the week when I’m out running errands.
9. What are some of your favorite Morning Lavender pieces?
I am in love with Morning Lavender’s Adele Gray Flutter Dress! I wore it to the Orange County Look party this summer and felt like a million bucks! The Fall Lookbook is full of eye candy though, too! I’m really loving all of the black and white they are featuring right now.
10. What advice would you give to someone looking to start his or her own blog?
To keep your blinders on and feature what you love. It’s so easy to get discouraged when you see other gorgeous blogs with all of this unique, amazing content. No one has your perspective and your voice. Focus on what you love and your blog will always feel authentic.
We hope our interview with Kacee inspired you as much as it has inspired us! Be sure to take a peek at Kacee’s blog, Life with Lipstick On for all things girly and wonderful!
