We still can’t get over all of the glitz and glamour from our Holiday Lookbook Video! One of our favorite scenes from our video is the sweet and uplifting dinner scene between Summer and her girlfriends (if you don’t know what we’re talking about, see the video here!). One thing we love just as much as dressing up is decorating! We loved coming up with a chic, feminine holiday tablescape and wish we could have it up all year to host all sorts of dinner parties and maybe even a really fancy brunch every now and then ;). With only so many days to show off your hostess skills, you’ll definitely impress friends and families with these new tricks up your sleeves!
Here are a few tips for those of you planning the perfect holiday tablescape and are looking for quick and easy ideas! Since we were already stocked up on gold-adorned candles, glasses, cutlery – most of which from our favorite home stores like Target and HomeGoods. We also crafted some DIY candleholders made from old wine bottles, which we of course spray painted gold (our favorite thing to do apparently ;). For our place card holders, we used mini christmas tree decorations to add a pop of color, and placed them inside gold napkin rings! It’s an easy way to make something look a little extra fancy, and hand written cards don’t hurt either! We chose a white sequin table linen for a clean canvas that resembled a snowy backdrop! We rented this particular one from Mod Mix Studio. We wanted to include some finishing touches of traditional Christmas greenery so we added a wreath, garland and some faux plants from Target to complete our perfect Holiday tablescape.

Here at Morning Lavender, we have a soft spot for feminine styles and we are particularly fond of anything and everything with sequins, lace, or our personal holiday favorite: bows. We believe bows are not just meant for gift wrapping, but they make the perfect final detail to your girlie holiday look! The holidays are the perfect time to flaunt your favorite bow looks whether it’s bow dresses, bow sweaters, bow blouses – you want it, we got it! Our favorite red holiday dress is our Nicolette Red Bow Back Strapless Dress that is both girlie, sweet and flirty with its strapless feature and fit and flare shape. We also love the ribbon bow ties on the back of our adorable bow sweater – the Irina Bow Back Grey Sweater! These pieces will have everyone doing double takes as you walk by, whether you’re out for date night or shopping at the promenade! Whether you like the subtle look of a dainty bow like on our wallets and clutches, or want to put a chic finishing touch on an outfit with one of our bow belts, we have all the perfect accessories for you!

Can you believe it’s already December? We sure can’t, but we’re more than excited for all that this festive month has in store! It’s that time of year that’s the busiest, and our calendars are filled with holiday parties, celebratory dinner dates, and of course Christmas dinner with the family. We know your to-do lists are filled to the brim during this time of year, so here are some holiday looks, styled by us – for you! Whatever event you might have to attend, we got you stylishly covered!
When we think about galas, we think an evening of chic glamour, and the best occasion for a girl to dress up! Whether it’s your first gala, or you’ve been to a handful of them, there’s always the problem of finding something to wear that’s unique and will stand out among the crowd. The most important thing to consider is finding something that makes you look amazing, but also feel comfortable enough to stand, sit, and socialize! We picked the perfect dress for the part, because you’ll feel like the belle of the ball in our Cassia Striped Gown and Eliza Faux Fur Jacket! We didn’t forget to accessorize either, and our Annabel Pearl Necklace definitely completes the outfit. Don’t forget a clutch for all of your essentials, whether it’s your phone, lipstick, or business cards!
For the family Christmas dinner, we paired our favorite midi skirt with a chic cream blazer. We definitely know how important it is to look the part for all of the photos taken with relatives that are in town for the holidays! Our Lucille Red Shiny Midi Skirt and Bianca Cream Tweed Blazer already make such a great pairing, but layer a bow tie blouse underneath and you’re ready for any family portrait! Don’t forget a glittery clutch to hold all of your Christmas cards to pass out!
The holiday office party can definitely be difficult to dress for, but we fixed that problem by pairing a chic blazer over a bright and festive sweater. We even layered the same bow tie blouse from our Christmas dinner look in this outfit! Talk about versatile, and a closet staple! We chose to wear jeans and heels for a casual, but polished look that you’ll be comfortable in to go out for drinks with your coworkers afterwards.
Date night with a significant other is one of our favorite excuses to dress up, and we love going out whether it’s to dinner and a movie or a night out on the town. We love the holiday season because sequins are always appropriate, so we couldn’t help pairing our wine strappy mini dress with our favorite black blazer cape. This is a super flirty and chic ensemble that will have everyone around you at a loss for words!
Christmas dinners with friends are one the things we look forward to most, whether it’s indoors by a fireplace or out at our favorite restaurants! We put together a cozy but flirty look with our bold fuchsia satin maxi skirt. This is an outfit that not only looks great, but is also super comfortable. We finished off the look with a must-have floral statement necklace that will have all of your girlfriends asking to borrow it!
Our third gift guide is here and all of these items are under $100. These pieces are everything a girl could want and more! We’ll guarantee that these chic and cozy sweaters won’t be re-gifted, and our new weekender bag will be something a girl really can’t live without. These items will have the special girls in your life ready for all that winter has in store, whether it’s nights out admiring Christmas lights, or weekend trips to see some snow! We also included one of our favorite striped skirts that is a year-round closet staple. ‘Tis the season for all things Christmas! We love decorating for the holidays, and in the midst of adorning our homes in ornaments and wreaths, we thought, “Why stop at just the tree?!?” We couldn’t help but wrap our gifts this year the Morning Lavender way – extra feminine and pretty ;). We used a combination of classic gold and neutrals with that extra girlie touch. We put together this DIY Gift Wrapping post to show you how easy it is to achieve these looks without having to spend tons of extra time or money!
First we gathered our supplies and brought together all of our basic gift wrapping essentials: craft paper, scissors, tape, ribbon, and twine. We found some scraps of lace that we know every crafty girl should have lying around (and if not, you can find them at Michaels or Hobby Lobby), and a spool of tulle from one of our previous projects (which you can also find at a local craft or fabric store). The only things we went out and bought were our gold wrapping paper (solid, and printed both $2.99 at IKEA!) and little gold and silver gift tags (just $0.99 at IKEA!).
For that extra touch of gold, we decided to garnish our gifts with spray painted leaves, branches, and pinecones. We found all of these things in our backyard, and loved how easy it was to recycle these products! Here at Morning Lavender, we have TONS of gold spray paint that we use for just about everything (office furniture, clothing racks, you name it!) and didn’t think twice about spraying our little leafy treasures. Having gold spray paint around is such an inexpensive way to give the things around us a classic and girly look, and we definitely recommend keeping a few cans around! We especially love the Specialty Metallic Gold Spray Paint from Rust-oleum that we get from Home Depot (it’s the one with the shiny cap!).
We loved these super inexpensive gift tags we got from IKEA, and loved how dainty they looked with a little bit of lace, ribbon, or twine. This is just another simple way to turn something store bought into something more personal and unique!
Step 1: Cut two strips of lace that will cover your box vertically.
Step 2: Turn your box to the back and tape the piece of lace down.
Step 3: Make sure you secure your lace to the box first before overlapping the connecting side.
Step 4: Take your second piece of lace and repeat steps 2-3 to mirror your first piece.
Step 1: Tie a simple knot with ribbon around the length of your box.
Step 2: Form two evenly sized loops in each hand, creating a bunny ear shape.
Step 3: Cross your right loop over your left one and thread your right loop back through the center.
Step 4: Adjust the length of each loop so that they are even.
Steps 5-7: Tighten your bow to make sure that both loops and your knot are secure.
Step 8: Cut off the ends of your ribbon at an angle with sharp scissors for a finished look.
Step 1: Remove enough tulle from your spool to wrap around your box both vertically and horizontally, leaving about 5 inches extra.
Step 1A-1C: Wrap your piece of tulle horizontally around your box, crossing it at the back and bringing the ends to meet vertically at the front.
Step 1D-1F: Bring your ends of tulle underneath the vertical piece of tulle, leaving the ends for Step 3.
Step 2: Unravel another section of tulle.
Step 2A-2D: Wrap the section of tulle around your hand 5-6 times.
Step 2E: When you are satisfied with the size of your bow, cut off the end of your piece of tulle.
Step 3A: Bring your “bow” back to your open ends of tulle from Step 1.
Step 3B: Take your open ends of tulle and tie them tightly around your tulle bow.
Step 3C: Double knot your tulle to secure the bow.
Step 3D: Cut off the excess parts from your open ends of tulle.
Step 3E: Spread your tulle out on the sides of your box.
Step 3F-3G: Place your fingers between each loop of your tulle bow, and fluff them to create a round shape (See Step 3H for reference).
Step 3H: Finish off your box with a golden branch!
